1. Submit the appliance details
Start by telling us what major appliance or appliances you want picked up. Include the appliance type, working condition, city and ZIP code, floor level, stairs and access notes. Photos are strongly recommended because they help us see the overall condition and identify obvious damage before a route is planned.
For refrigerators and freezers, tell us whether the unit is currently plugged in and cooling or freezing. For washers and dryers, mention whether the machines complete their normal cycles. For stoves and ranges, tell us whether the burners or elements and oven operate.
2. We review condition and local demand
Free pickup is qualification-based. Fully working and reusable appliances receive priority because they have the best chance of being reused rather than simply discarded. Minor-repair appliances may be considered depending on age, model, overall condition, local demand and route availability.
A single nonworking appliance does not automatically qualify for free pickup. Mixed loads may qualify when approximately 80% of the load is working. This lets us evaluate the whole pickup rather than treating every item the same.
3. Access is part of the review
Moving a refrigerator from a garage is very different from moving one down a narrow upstairs hallway. Tell us whether the appliance is in a garage, driveway, first floor, second or third floor, basement, outside area or another location. Include stairs, narrow doorways, tight corners, gates and anything else that affects the path to the pickup vehicle.
Accurate access information helps us determine what equipment and staffing are needed and prevents failed pickup attempts.
4. Special appliance rules
Microwaves are accepted only when they are included with another qualifying major appliance. Dishwashers are considered only when they come with two or more major working appliances. These rules help keep routes focused on major household appliances that can be handled efficiently.
5. Scheduling depends on active coverage
Even when an appliance is a good candidate, free pickup still depends on an active route, current demand and scheduling capacity. Coverage is organized through state and regional service hubs, with a small number of core-market pages where we have established operations. Submit your exact city and ZIP code so the request can be matched to the appropriate route before pickup is confirmed.
6. Wait for an explicit pickup confirmation
Submitting the form, calling or texting begins the review; it does not reserve a truck or create a confirmed appointment. The team may request additional photos, measurements, model information or access details before deciding whether the appliance and location can be accepted.
If the request qualifies and coverage is available, the pickup details must be confirmed directly. Keep your contact information accurate and report any change in appliance condition, address, stairs or removal access before the scheduled arrival.
After a Completed Pickup
Completed customers may receive a private feedback link after service. Feedback is not published automatically. A customer must explicitly give permission before any quote is considered for public use.
Multiple Appliances, Rentals and Business Requests
Homeowners, renters, landlords, property managers and businesses can submit more than one appliance in the same request. List every unit separately, including its condition and location within the property. For apartment turnovers or repeated property-management work, include the number of units and whether appliances are spread across multiple addresses.
A complete load description is important because mixed-load qualification is based on the major appliances being reviewed together. Do not add an undisclosed nonworking appliance after the route has been approved.
Before the pickup
Remove food and personal items, clear the path, and make sure pets and children are away from the moving area. Water, electrical and gas connections should be handled safely. Do not disconnect gas fittings unless you are qualified to do so. If you were asked to keep a working refrigerator or freezer plugged in so its condition can be confirmed, keep it operating until the appropriate time.
Los Angeles Pickup Process
Los Angeles customers can use the dedicated Los Angeles appliance pickup and removal page for the 310 contact number, exact-address review, apartment access details and the direct request form.
How the California Pickup Network Is Organized
California requests follow the same review process, but the route is organized by region so the page matches the actual pickup location. Use the most specific approved market page whenever one exists.
These pages explain local access, appliance qualification, public disposal alternatives and current route structure in more detail than the nationwide process page.
What Can Happen After an Appliance Is Picked Up?
The next step depends on the appliance condition and the independent local provider handling the request. Free pickup works best when a usable appliance, repair opportunity, recoverable parts or recyclable materials can offset the labor and hauling cost.
Reuse
Working washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, stoves and ranges may stay in service through resale, rental, donation or another reuse channel where practical.
Repair
Some appliances with minor issues may be cleaned, diagnosed or repaired when a local appliance professional sees enough reuse value.
Parts Recovery
Motors, pumps, controls, shelves, racks, knobs, cords, boards and other usable components may sometimes be recovered before the remaining material is recycled.
Material Recycling
Steel, copper, aluminum and other metals can move into recycling streams when an appliance cannot be reused. Refrigerators and freezers require appropriate refrigerant-aware handling before scrap processing.
Do not cut refrigerant lines or remove a compressor yourself. Refrigerant-containing appliances should be handled through an appropriate recovery or recycling process.
