What Qualifies for Free Pickup?
Qualifying fully working appliances may receive free pickup. Mixed loads may also qualify when approximately 80% of the major appliances work. Minor repairs may be considered, but a nonworking appliance by itself does not qualify.
Appliances We Review
Washers
Working top-load and front-load washers are a priority. Tell us whether the washer fills, drains and spins, and describe leaks or error messages.
Dryers
Working gas and electric dryers are a priority. Tell us whether the dryer heats and tumbles and whether it is part of a laundry set.
Refrigerators
Tell us whether both compartments cool correctly and include interior and exterior photos when possible.
Freezers
Upright and chest freezers may qualify. Tell us whether the freezer maintains temperature and where it is located.
Stoves & Ranges
Gas and electric stoves, ranges and ovens may be submitted with their working condition and access details.
Salem-Area Route Coverage
Our Salem-area team reviews requests in Salem and West Salem. See Keizer pickup details, while nearby requests from Turner, Stayton, Silverton, Dallas, Monmouth, Independence and Woodburn may be reviewed when the Salem-area route is practical.
Use the Keizer page for local pickup and disposal information. For other nearby communities, submit your city and ZIP code through the Salem form so the team can check whether your address fits an available route.
For a major city farther south in the Willamette Valley, use the dedicated Eugene appliance pickup page. For broader Oregon information, use the Oregon service page or the complete service-area overview.
Salem Appliance Pickup by Property & Access
West Salem Hills
For hillside homes, include driveway slope, steps, gate width and the carrying distance from the appliance to safe vehicle access.
South & East Salem Homes
Garage and first-floor pickups are often simpler, but still send narrow-door, side-yard, gate and parking details so the route can be reviewed correctly.
Older Central Salem Homes
For Grant, Court-Chemeketa and nearby older neighborhoods, describe basement stairs, porch steps, detached garages, tight interior turns and refrigerator doorway clearance.
Rentals & Multi-Appliance Turnovers
Landlords and property managers should list each appliance and condition separately. Working washer/dryer sets and multiple usable appliances can be reviewed as one load when they are at the same address.
Salem Neighborhoods & ZIP Codes We Review
We review qualifying appliance pickup requests across Salem, including West Salem, Grant, Highland, Northgate, Morningside, Faye Wright, Sunnyslope, South Gateway, Southeast Salem, Northeast Salem and East Lancaster. The City of Salem currently recognizes 17 neighborhood associations, which reflects how different pickup access can be from one part of the city to another.
West Salem is in Polk County, according to the City's West Salem Neighborhood Association page. That makes the exact street address especially important for route review instead of relying only on a Salem mailing name. Common Salem ZIP codes include 97301, 97302, 97304, 97305, 97306 and 97317. Keizer requests have a dedicated local page, and other nearby Mid-Willamette Valley requests may be reviewed when route coverage is available.

Salem-Keizer Disposal Alternative
If an appliance does not qualify for our pickup, Marion County's Salem-Keizer Recycling & Transfer Station may be an alternative. The County lists the station at 3250 Deer Park Dr. SE, Salem, OR 97317 and currently shows public hours of 8 a.m.–5 p.m., seven days a week.
Marion County currently lists $5 per appliance without refrigerant and $25 per appliance designed to contain refrigerant. The County explains that refrigerant appliances must be assessed by a professional for proper refrigerant removal and documentation before recycling; removing refrigerant yourself does not eliminate the fee.
Mixed loads can be charged at the regular garbage rate, so confirm the current rules and fees before transporting multiple materials together.
