Photo Checklist: What to Send Before Pickup

Clear photos help us review your appliance without guessing about its condition. You do not need professional photos; ordinary phone pictures are fine.

  1. Whole appliance: one picture from the front showing the washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, stove or oven.
  2. Model label: a readable picture of the brand and model sticker, if safely accessible.
  3. Condition: show any dents, rust, leaks or damage and tell us whether the appliance works.
  4. Pickup access: show the doorway, stairs, gate or narrow path if moving the appliance may be difficult.
  5. Multiple items: photograph each major appliance and list which ones work.

Include your city and ZIP code. Please do not send sensitive documents or photos containing personal information. Do not move, unplug or test an appliance in an unsafe way just to take a picture.

Working appliances receive priority

Free Reliable Appliance Pickup focuses first on appliances that are working and reusable. Washers, dryers, refrigerators, household freezers, stoves, ranges and ovens are the main appliance categories reviewed. A working appliance generally means that its primary functions operate normally and there is no major damage that prevents safe use or movement.

Cosmetic wear does not automatically disqualify an appliance. Scratches, small dents or normal age-related wear can be acceptable when the appliance still works and remains reusable.

Minor repairs may still be reviewed

An appliance that needs a small repair can sometimes be considered, but free pickup is not guaranteed. Age, brand, model, parts availability, overall condition, local demand and the active pickup route all matter. Provide clear photos and describe the problem accurately so the request can be evaluated correctly.

Nonworking appliances

A single nonworking appliance does not automatically qualify for free pickup. If you have several appliances, a mixed load may qualify when approximately 80% of the load is working. For example, a larger pickup with mostly working appliances can be reviewed differently from a request for one completely broken appliance.

Do not mark an appliance as working if it has a serious functional problem. Accurate condition information makes scheduling more reliable.

How the approximately 80% mixed-load guideline works

The guideline applies to the major appliances in one proposed pickup. Four working major appliances plus one nonworking major appliance may be reviewed as an approximately 80% working load. Two working appliances plus one nonworking appliance is closer to two-thirds working and generally does not meet that guideline.

Meeting the percentage does not automatically guarantee free pickup. The types of appliances, reusable condition, local demand, distance, safe access and available route capacity still matter. Microwaves and dishwashers remain subject to their separate rules and should not be used to make a load appear to meet the major-appliance guideline.

List each item separately: “five appliances” is not enough information. Identify the type and condition of every appliance so the working percentage and route requirements can be reviewed accurately.

What “working” should mean in your request

An appliance should be described as working only when its main functions can be confirmed. A washer that fills but will not drain is not fully working. A dryer that tumbles but produces no heat needs repair. A refrigerator that runs but does not keep food cold should not be described as cooling correctly.

If the condition is unknown because the appliance is disconnected or came with a property, choose “unknown” and explain what you know. Honest unknown condition is more useful than guessing and helps prevent a failed pickup.

Appliances we commonly review

Washers and dryers

Working washers, dryers and complete laundry sets are priority categories. Tell us whether the washer fills, drains and spins and whether the dryer tumbles and heats.

Refrigerators and freezers

Cooling condition is important. Tell us whether the refrigerator is currently plugged in and cooling or whether the freezer is reaching and holding freezing temperature. Photos of the exterior, interior and model label are helpful.

Stoves, ranges and ovens

Gas and electric cooking appliances can be reviewed. Tell us whether the burners or elements, controls and oven operate and whether the appliance is already disconnected.

Microwave and dishwasher rules

Microwaves are not accepted by themselves. They are reviewed only when included with another qualifying major appliance. Dishwashers are reviewed only when they come with two or more major working appliances.

Condition is not the only factor

Even a fully working appliance is not automatically guaranteed free pickup. Local demand, distance, route availability, access, stairs, doorway clearance and scheduling all affect the final decision. That is why every request is reviewed before a pickup is confirmed.

How We Apply Qualification in Real Pickup Reviews

Qualification is based on practical appliance condition and access, not just a city name. We ask what the appliance actually does, whether it is complete, whether it can be moved safely, and whether current reuse demand and route capacity support the pickup.

Free Appliance Pickup Qualification FAQ

Is free appliance pickup automatic?

Can one nonworking appliance qualify?

A single completely nonworking appliance generally does not qualify. Repairable items and mixed loads may still be reviewed depending on local demand.

How does the mixed-load guideline work?

A mixed load may qualify when approximately 80% of the major appliances are working and reusable.

Do microwaves or dishwashers qualify by themselves?

Microwaves are not accepted by themselves. Dishwashers are considered only with two or more major working appliances.
