Before You Submit a Pickup Request
Free appliance pickup is qualification-based. Working appliances receive priority, and the condition of the appliance, local demand, pickup access and available route coverage all matter. A complete request gives us a much clearer picture than an appliance name alone.
1. Identify Every Appliance
List each major appliance in the load. Common qualifying categories include washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ranges and ovens. If you have a washer and dryer together, say that it is a set. For multiple appliances, give the working condition of each item rather than describing the entire load as simply “working” or “broken.”
2. Describe the Working Condition
Fully working
Tell us what you have personally seen the appliance do. A working refrigerator should cool and freeze as expected. A washer should fill, wash, drain and spin. A dryer should tumble and heat. A stove or range should have working burners or elements and a functioning oven.
Needs repair or not working
Mention the specific problem when known: not cooling, not spinning, not heating, leaking, noisy, error code, broken control, missing part or another issue. Minor-repair appliances may be considered depending on the model, condition and local demand, but a single nonworking appliance does not automatically qualify for free pickup.
Mixed loads
A mixed load may qualify when approximately 80% of the major appliances are working. List each appliance separately so the load can be reviewed correctly.
3. Take Useful Photos
Start with a full front photo in good light. Add an interior photo for refrigerators and freezers when practical, plus a photo of the model/serial label. For ranges, show the cooking surface and controls. For washers and dryers, show the control panel and the full machine. If there is damage, include a clear photo of that area rather than hiding it.
Photos also help with access. If the appliance is behind a tight doorway, on stairs or inside a narrow laundry closet, a photo of the route can prevent surprises at pickup.
4. Measure Large Appliances When Possible
Approximate width, depth and height are especially helpful for refrigerators, large freezers and oversized laundry machines. Measurements help determine whether doors may need to be removed and whether the appliance can pass through the available hallway or doorway.
5. Explain Pickup Access
Tell us whether the appliance is in a garage, driveway, kitchen, laundry room, basement, upstairs area, apartment or outside. Include the floor level, number of stairs, elevator availability, gates, narrow halls, tight turns and any doorway that may be smaller than the appliance.
Good access information protects both the customer and the pickup crew. Do not move an appliance into a more difficult location after submitting the request.
6. Prepare the Appliance Safely
Remove food, clothing and personal items. Keep the path clear. Do not disconnect a gas appliance unless you are qualified to do so. For refrigerators and freezers that are working, keeping them plugged in when practical can make it easier to confirm cooling condition before pickup.
Why These Details Matter in Real Appliance Pickup
Our checklist is based on hands-on appliance condition review, pickup access and reuse experience. A request can look simple until a refrigerator will not clear a doorway, a stacked laundry unit requires disassembly, a dryer is gas instead of electric, or an upstairs appliance has no safe elevator route.
