Appliance Removal, Haul-Away and Recycling in Denver
Replacing a working appliance? Request pickup for reuse before arranging disposal. Appliance removal or haul-away means collecting the appliance from your property. Recycling is a different option to investigate when equipment is no longer suitable for use. Our service gives working and reusable appliances priority.
Looking for free appliance recycling near you?
Start with a qualifying pickup request for a working washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer or stove. A single nonworking appliance does not qualify for our free service. If you need disposal for a nonqualifying item, check the official local disposal resources below for acceptance rules and any fees.
For an address inside Denver, send the exact street address or ZIP code so this city page can own the request. Addresses outside Denver should use the matching city page or the Colorado service-area hub. For a chest or upright freezer in a basement, send its dimensions and exit clearance. For a laundry set, use the dedicated Denver washer & dryer page and include elevator, stair and loading details.

Appliances We Review
Washers
Working top-load and front-load washers are a priority. Tell us whether the machine fills, drains and spins, and describe leaks or error messages.
Dryers
Working electric and gas dryers, including laundry sets. Tell us whether the dryer heats and turns, its fuel type and the condition of each machine in a set.
Refrigerators
Standard, side-by-side, bottom-freezer and French-door refrigerators.
Freezers
Working chest and upright freezers are a priority in Colorado. Tell us whether the freezer holds its temperature, its approximate size and whether it is in a basement, garage or inside the home.
Stoves & Ranges
Gas and electric stoves, ranges and ovens may qualify.
Denver Freezer Pickup & Refrigerator Handoff
Refrigerator-only requests belong on the Denver refrigerator pickup page. That page owns fridge-specific cooling, photo and removal-access details. Keep this general Denver page for mixed loads and other major appliances.
Chest and upright freezers can be reviewed here. State whether the freezer is empty, currently freezing correctly and located in a garage, basement, first floor or other area. For broader freezer qualification details, see the freezer pickup guide.
Denver Washer & Dryer Requests Use the Laundry Page
Washer-only, dryer-only and laundry-set requests should use the Denver washer & dryer pickup page. That local page owns washer and dryer testing, basement or apartment access, and laundry-specific pickup intent.
Use this general Denver appliance page when laundry machines are part of a mixed major-appliance load with other qualifying items.
What Qualifies for Free Pickup?
Qualifying fully working appliances may receive free pickup. Mixed loads may also qualify when approximately 80% of the appliances work. Minor repairs may be considered, but a nonworking appliance by itself does not qualify.
Dishwashers are considered only with two or more major working appliances. Microwaves are accepted only with another qualifying major appliance.
Denver Neighborhood & Access Route Review
Qualifying requests may come from Downtown and LoDo, Capitol Hill, RiNo, Washington Park, Cherry Creek, Central Park and other Denver neighborhoods. The neighborhood helps describe the pickup area, but the exact street address and ZIP code are used to confirm current Denver and Aurora route coverage.
High-rise and condo requests should include elevator reservations and loading access. Houses with basements, detached garages, narrow entries or limited street parking should include those details with the appliance photos.
Denver Appliance Pickup by Property Type
Downtown Condos & Apartments
For LoDo, Capitol Hill, Five Points, RiNo, Cherry Creek and other denser neighborhoods, include floor level, elevator availability, loading access, parking limits, hallway width and the distance from the appliance to the pickup vehicle.
Single-Family Homes & Garages
For homes in areas such as Washington Park, Highlands, Central Park and South Denver, tell us whether the appliance is in a garage, basement, kitchen or laundry room and describe stairs, narrow doors or long carries.
Landlords, Property Managers & Businesses
For turnovers or multiple appliances, list every item separately with condition, building access and whether the appliances are at one address or several Denver-area properties. Grouped working loads can be reviewed together.
Denver and Aurora Pickup Coverage
Our Colorado pickup area centers on Denver and Aurora, with requests reviewed approximately 35–45 miles around the metro area. This is a coverage guideline, not automatic approval: send your address or ZIP code so we can confirm the route and pickup conditions.
Nearby requests may include Lakewood, Arvada, Westminster, Thornton, Centennial, and Parker. Check the Colorado service page for broader coverage, or contact the Colorado team at 720-604-7498.
What to Send the Colorado Pickup Team
Send one clear photo of each appliance, its brand and model when known, and whether it is fully working, needs repair or does not work. For a refrigerator or freezer, tell us whether it maintains its temperature; for laundry sets, describe each machine separately.
For basement or apartment pickup, include stairs, elevator arrangements, doorway clearance and parking or loading restrictions. For multiple appliances, list the condition of every item so we can review the working share of the complete load.
Call or text between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, Monday through Sunday. We review the information and confirm eligibility and an available pickup time before scheduling.

Colorado Utility Refrigerator & Freezer Recycling Option
If a working refrigerator or stand-alone freezer does not fit our pickup route, eligible Xcel Energy residential electric customers in Colorado may have a separate utility recycling option. Xcel's current Colorado residential guide states that qualifying still-functioning refrigerators or freezers can receive free in-home pickup and a $50 rebate.
This utility program is independent of Free Reliable Appliance Pickup. Xcel says customers must have a qualifying refrigerator or freezer to participate. Check the current program rules before scheduling.

Denver City Appliance Collection Alternative
If an appliance does not qualify for our reuse-focused pickup, Denver residents serviced by Solid Waste Management have a separate City appliance-collection option. Denver currently states that eligible residents may schedule free appliance collection by appointment so metals can be recycled and refrigerants from cooling appliances can be handled properly.
The City's accepted-appliance list includes stoves and ovens, hot water heaters, furnaces, dishwashers, microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers and dryers. Denver says appointments can be scheduled through 311 or 720-913-1311.
Denver's regular Large Item Pickup is a different program and specifically lists appliances as not accepted, so customers should use the appliance-collection program instead of setting an appliance out on a normal large-item day.

Commercial Appliance Pickup in Denver
For apartment portfolios, businesses, installers, warehouses or recurring equipment replacement, use the commercial appliance pickup & removal guide and include Denver site access, appliance count, loading restrictions and schedule requirements.
Denver Appliance Removal Options: Free Pickup, City Collection or Paid Carry-Out?
People searching for appliance removal in Denver may need very different services. A working refrigerator, washer, dryer, freezer or range may fit our reuse-focused free pickup review, while a dead appliance, difficult basement carry-out or commercial cleanout may need a different removal route. Use the appliance condition and access situation to choose the right option before scheduling.
Qualifying Free Pickup & Reuse
Start with our request when the appliance works, may be repairable, or is part of a mostly working multi-appliance load. Send photos, tested functions, exact Denver address or ZIP code, stairs, floor level and parking/loading details. Free pickup is confirmed only after review.
Denver City Appliance Collection
For eligible Denver residents whose appliance does not fit our reuse route, the City publishes a separate appliance-collection program by appointment. This is different from regular Large Item Pickup, which excludes appliances. Use the official Denver resource below for current rules and scheduling.
Paid Full-Service Removal
A broken appliance that needs disconnection, basement carry-out, same-day service, refrigerant handling or other labor may be better suited to a licensed paid junk/appliance-removal provider. We do not claim that every broken or difficult appliance qualifies for free pickup.
Denver Apartments, Rentals, Property Managers & Commercial Requests
Downtown and central Denver apartments may require elevator reservations, loading-zone coordination and proof of building access. Property managers and landlords should list each unit, appliance condition and access separately. Businesses or recurring turnover projects can use our landlord and property-manager appliance pickup guide before submitting the Denver request.
Common Denver route reviews include Downtown, Capitol Hill, Five Points/RiNo, Washington Park, Park Hill, southwest Denver, Montbello and Green Valley Ranch. Exact service depends on the actual address, appliance condition and current route availability.
