The Short Answer
There is no single nationwide appliance-removal price. A working or reusable major appliance may qualify for free pickup in an active service area. A broken appliance, difficult inside carry-out, long staircase, very heavy built-in unit, commercial cleanout or general junk load may require a paid removal service.
Our rule: submitting a request is free. Pickup is only confirmed as free after the appliance, location, access, local demand and route availability are reviewed.
What Changes Appliance Removal Cost?
Condition
Working appliances may have reuse value. Nonworking, incomplete or heavily damaged units are more likely to require a disposal or paid-removal route.
Access
Garage or driveway access is different from stairs, elevators, narrow hallways, long carrying distances or difficult parking.
Appliance Type & Size
A standard washer is different from a built-in refrigerator, commercial range or oversized freezer. Weight, dimensions and disconnection status matter.
Quantity
A single broken unit can be harder to route for free than a mixed load with several working major appliances.
Location
Availability varies by city and active route. The same appliance may be practical in one market and outside current coverage in another.
Provider Type
Reuse-focused pickup, municipal collection, retailer haul-away, utility programs and junk-removal companies use different pricing models and acceptance rules.
When Appliance Removal Can Be Free
Qualifying free pickup is most realistic when the appliance is working, reusable, accessible and located on an active route. Fully working refrigerators, washers, dryers, freezers, stoves and ranges receive priority through our service.
Mixed loads may also qualify when most of the major appliances work. Free pickup is not a blanket promise for every broken appliance.
Read the free-pickup qualification rules or submit the appliance details.
When Paid Appliance Removal May Make More Sense
- A single nonworking appliance with no reuse value.
- Very difficult inside carry-out, multiple flights of stairs or special lifting requirements.
- Large built-in or commercial equipment requiring extra labor or equipment.
- General junk, debris or construction material mixed with the appliance load.
- A location outside an active free-pickup route.
- A time-sensitive removal that cannot wait for route matching.

How to Avoid Paying for Removal Too Early
- Check whether the appliance still works.
- Take clear photos and note the model number when practical.
- Describe stairs, doors, floor level and carrying distance.
- Check whether a qualifying free pickup route serves the address.
- If it does not qualify, compare municipal, retailer, utility and recycler options before choosing a paid junk-removal service.
